Ashok Purang
Initiated into theatre by French teachers like Philippe Lenglet and K. Madvane and later mentored by Barry John, Ashok Purang, founder-director of Pierrot’s Troupe, has been passionately involved with theatre since 1980. After having directed over two dozen plays, he went on to become the Creative Producer on an immensely delightful Hindi Feature film called ‘Filmistaan’, a successful film at the box-office that won National Award for the Best Feature Film in Hindi. It was hailed by top critics and lauded at many International film festivals.
Since then Ashok Purang has been an Associate Producer on feature films like Manoj Bajpayee starrer Bhonsle, Amitabh Bachchan starrer AB aani CD and a Creative Producer on a Bengali short The Crimson Sunrise starring film actors like Samadarshi Dutta and Amrita Chattopadhyay from Bengali film industry. Currently, he is working as a Creative Producer on an untitled feature film that is veering towards completion and stars Rajkummar Rao.
His foray in advertising industry involves a Creative Director position at Bioscopia, Mumbai, a film production house that provides state-of-the-art professional and expert services for the development and production of engaging, entertaining and original content for ad films, corporate films and digital films.
Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and also in Public Relations & Advertising from Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, New Delhi he got exposed to the magical world of theatre and cinema. He seeks great pleasure in teaching what acting for the silver screen is about. He has also occupied coveted seats as Creative Producer, Creative Consultant and Content Head for companies like Muvizz, Satellite Pictures and Firangi Channel.
